You read that right! By creating a Checking account using you will be awarded with $200 simply by opening an account and setting up your paychecks to be deposited into your account.
How do I get this offer?
You may use our sign-up link which will take you to a page which states “Enjoy up to $350” by opening a Checking Account as well as a Savings account. For students, we’d recommend start by opening a checking account and set up your paychecks as direct deposit to this account. Simply by receiving your weekly/bi-weekly/monthly paychecks as direct deposits into the account, you will receive a credit of $200 which shows up in your account within 30 days of meeting the requirement.
Same applies for part/full-time employees too. The added benefit to full time employees is that if you’ve accumulated $10,000 and can transfer it to the Chase Savings account within 20 business days of opening and hold that minimum balance for 90 days, you stand to get an additional $150. Admittedly that is only 1.5% and you can make more than 1.5% in 90 days if you invested elswhere – but it is a hassle-free option.
Will I be charged to open/hold this account?
Monthly fees ($12) do apply to these accounts but can be waived by ensuring the following –
- Direct deposit totaling $500 or more made to this account (every month)
- OR a balance at the beginning of each day of $1,500 or more in this account,
- OR an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying Chase checking, savings, and other balances
Our advice, as long as you get a monthly total of $500 or more direct deposited to your account, you will not be charged a fee.
Whats the student hack?
Once you open this account and receive the bonus of $200, go to the Chase branch closest to you with your student ID and ask them to change your account type to a student account type.
By showing proof of an enrolled student you may waive the monthly charges. They will ask you what your expected graduation date is and the best response is to say the farthest you feel you will remain a student.
Additionally, you may read the terms and conditions here.
DO NOT open a student account as you will not get the sign-up bonus. Open an account with the link we provided, get the bonus and then convert to a student account so you aren’t charged a monthly fee and can keep as little money in the account as you wish. Just don’t empty it out as it will showcase gaming behavior and they might either claw back the bonus or blacklist you in their systems.
