Picture this: white sand beaches, amazing weather, whale watching while sipping margaritas and eating nachos with salsa & fresh guac – all from the comfort of your very own plunge pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Away from the crowds, cut into the side of a Baja California cliff lies a hidden gem, accessible only by a private tunnel – a testament of true luxury – The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos.

Hilton Honors Points and Free Night Certificates
Hilton and American Express tend to offer special bonuses throughout the year, one of which tends to be a combination of points and free night certificates. Keeping that in mind, I had signed up for the base Hilton Honors card (70K HH + 1 FNC) and a couple of Hilton Surpass Cards (130K + 1 FNC) using NLL (No Lifetime Language) offers that I found online.
No Lifetime Language Offer Links
Here are links to NLL offers (as of 2 March 2025. May expire at any time):
- Hilton Honors (70K + 1 FNC) No Annual Fee
- Hilton Surpass (130K + 1 FNC) $150 Annual Fee
- Hilton Aspire (175K) $550 Annual Fee
The benefit of NLL offers is that even if you have earned a bonus on these cards in the past and/or still currently hold them, you can still apply and be eligible for the bonus if approved. Note: Amex limits you to 5 non-charge cards so keep that in mind.

Booking the Stay
I used 480K Hilton Honors points I earned for a 5 night stay at the Conrad Rangali Island in the Maldives and had 120K HH + 2 FNCs left over. Leveraging the Hilton Points Calendar for the WA Los Cabos, I was able to find standard award space for three nights.

I had to call Hilton to redeem my FNCs and 120K points for a three night stay. As of January 31, Hilton did revise the points rate so it will now cost 140K HH points per night. However, the beauty of FNCs is that they can be redeemed at anytime as long as a standard award rate room is available.

The Rooms
When we arrived at the property, we were extremely lucky to receive an amazing upgrade to a beachfront highest floor room directly overlooking the pacific – with no obstructions (i.e. rooms are staggered so you have full privacy in your balcony and a clear view of the ocean and all the whales).

The best part about the property is that every standard room comes with its very own plunge pool and every room gets free corona beers, nachos, fresh salsa & chips daily between 4-6pm.
We stayed in February over an extended holiday weekend and the room that we were upgraded to would’ve costed $3296/night after taxes. We definitely lucked out with our redemption. Typical stays cost $2400/night after tax in peak season (December to March) and off-season/shoulder stays can be $2200/night after tax though you won’t get to see as many whales from your balcony.
What are you waiting for?
I’d highly recommend staying here to celebrate a special occasion like your honeymoon, anniversary or birthday especially if you are able to find standard award space. I feel FNCs will get you better value at a property like this vs points but if you are able to take advantage of the NLL offers, this is a property close to the US (West Coast) that is certainly worth the hype to pamper yourself.
