Five night stay in an Overwater Pool Villa in the Maldives for free

We’ve all wanted to take an aspirational vacation to spoil ourselves once in a while and what better place to do this than the Maldives!

Hilton Amingiri Maldives

Located on the Amingiri island with just under 110 villas (each with its own private pool), this is Hilton’s 4th hotel in the Maldives right alongside the Conrad, SAii Curio Collection and Waldorf Astoria.

Room types offered are a collection of both overwater and beach villas with the former being the most sought after.

The base rate tends to hover around $1600/night with high seasons starting at $2200/night + taxes/fees.

Redemption Rate

Based on redemption rates, I feel this offers a better CPP value than the Conrad Rangali as award nights start at 110,000 Hilton Honors points vs 120,000 at the latter.

This bundled with Hilton’s 5th Night Free offer on award stays makes it a no brainer as a five night stay will set you back 440K HHs (Amingiri) vs 480K HHs (Conrad Rangali).

New Year’s Reservation

As mentioned earlier, the property increases its pricing around peak travel times and this is no exception. A five night stay at this brand new property can set you back almost $14K (USD).

But looking at the reward price calendar, we can see there are a lot of standard rewards open for 5-day slots. There is wide availability for January, March and April 2023 as well starting at 110K HHs/night (440K total for 5 nights).

Considering that Hilton points are normally worth closer to 0.6CPP with recent devaluations, this offers amazing value for those who have amassed high points balances since the pandemic started.

Book now or wait?

If you have been wanting to take a luxury vacation to pamper yourself for a while and Maldives has been on your radar, or you want to spend an anniversary or honeymoon, then I would book dates as quickly as possible because availability will drop as time passes and there is a high possibility of more points devaluations to come.

But just booking a 5 night stay doesn’t mean you won’t spend a lot. On average, you’ll spend atleast $3K on your five night stay on things like: getting to the island from Male airport ($300 boatride/adult), food, activities, spa, etc… not to mention the cost of flying into the Maldives (which you can also redeem points for: Qatar for example). So it won’t be cheap by any means but hence it falls into that aspirational bucket.

Hilton Honors Status perks

Having Gold or Diamond will benefit with getting free breakfast and a possibility of being upgraded as well as afternoon free drinks and snacks. But they mostly stop there. You can get status with Hilton by either staying at the properties or just getting their credit cards – easier in my opinion.

If you are able to plan it through, the Hilton Honors, Aspire and Surpass personal credit cards or the Hilton Honors Business from American Express will get you enough points to redeem for the stay + get you status benefits. While offers keep changing, Hilton occasionally also offers a Free Night Certificate which can be used towards your redemption.
